Dundee activists visit Shell

Two of us bravely faced the drizzle on Saturday to leaflet at two Shell petrol stations in Dundee centre. Although the vile weather and the sight of a police car waiting for us, or as it turned out, not for us, could have been off putting, we went courageously ahead, turning in the letters (both managers were off for the weekend) and handing out leaflets.

Our very first 'customer' was a taxi driver.  We thought “... hey ho... we could be in for a torrent of abuse here”, but no.  This was a taxi driver like no other - he was well on our side and immediately spoke about the Greenpeace action against Cairn Energy last year.  He remembered more about it than we did!

The reaction from motorists and staff overall was very positive, although to be fair, there weren’t a huge number of people buying petrol on a Saturday afternoon.  After getting soaked for a couple of hours, we decided to call it a day.
