The group held a morning stall outside Barclays Bank, Terminus Road on Saturday 6th November to support the Go Beyond Oil campaign and coinciding with the Big Climate Connection lobbying events across the country.

On arrival, Leslie, Nancy and Angela had set up an eye-catching display but a slow start to the day despite the welcome bright weather and some difficulty finding an opening one-liner on this broad-ranging issue to draw the public.

The appearance of Stephen Lloyd for a photo-shoot at 10.15 attracted more attention and he kindly stayed for around another 15 minutes engaging with the public asking them to sign our action cards calling for an effective Energy Bill. Team members were also able to briefly raise issues of special interest before his departure with about 20 signed cards.

Following this a steady flow of people to the stall keeping the message as simple as possible and some interesting conversations ensued. A further 20 or so cards were signed. Amongst those who stopped, there was a good deal of sympathy for Greenpeace's objectives, no noticeable negativity generated by the controversial Channel 4 documentary on 4th November and a perception of increasing disquiet amongst the public over continued dependence on destrutive oil extraction especially after the Gulf of Mexico disaster.
