This is our first jointly-written blog post by the Edinburgh Greenpeace group. We were out at another Shell garage in Edinburgh on Saturday 28th of July to protest about them drilling for oil in the Arctic.
We enjoyed plenty of attention from passing drivers who were surprised to see a dancing polar bear in our midst. This really helped us spread the message about our current campaign, Save the Arctic, as lots of people saw our banners as they took a second glance at the polar bear. We were also handing out leaflets telling people how they could sign up to the campaign.
Shortly after we arrived, it started to rain quite heavily. The fire service opposite offered us tea, which was really lovely of them. But we were quite unperturbed!
It was great to see so many new people at the protest. There are loads of ways that you can get involved, and we’ll always be happy to give any new volunteers a full briefing beforehand.
