Last weekend we went along to the first annual Scottish Tattoo Convention at Edinburgh’s Corn Exchange to spread the word about Greenpeace to a new audience. Despite rumours to the contrary, none of us who attended got the Greenpeace logo tattooed across any part of our bodies!
This was a fantastic weekend – we took along our face paints and campaign materials and had a really great time, face painting small children and big burly men alike. We got plenty of smiles and supportive words from the organisers, the tattooists and the people attending the convention, and even managed a special mention in the programme.
We managed to get over fifty Go Beyond Oil cards signed about the Energy Bill going through Parliament, had 19 people ask us to keep them up to date with the campaign, raised over £45 for Greenpeace and gained two potential new members. All in all, it was quite a success.
Many thanks to the Scottish Tattoo Convention for giving us a stall to such an enjoyable and unusual event, and hopefully we’ll be back again next year.
