Peace March from Glasgow to Faslane

The Peace March left George Square in Glasgow at 12 noon on Thursday 21 June and arrived in Faslane early evening on Friday. Despite the heavy rain, our flags and banners were still flying high on the final march up to the North Gate of Faslane Naval Base.

We wanted to raise awareness of the campaign for nuclear disarmament by taking our message to the streets of Glasgow. Around twenty or so people took part in the march, with people dropping in and out along the way. This included a few of us from the Edinburgh Greenpeace group (although this was NOT a Greenpeace event).

The road to Faslane was a busy one, and it was nice to get lots of thumbs up and cheerful beeps along the way. One lady even pulled over to pour us some hot tea and offer us biscuits.

The march was part of a series of events to mark the 30th anniversary of Faslane Peace Camp.
