15 September, 2013 - 13:00 - 16:00

Edinburgh Greenpeace will be holding an Ice Ride on the 15th September, as part of events across the world on the 15th to protest at Shell's plans to drill for oil in the Arctic. Our furry activist friend will be coming, and we'd love it if you joined us! (Either cycling or walking if you'd prefer). Email greenpeace-edinburgh@live.co.uk if you'd like to take part. All ages and cycling abilities welcome!

The route is as follows:

  • Meet at The Hub (down from the castle) Castlehill 1.00pm
  • Depart at 1.30pm going down Lawnmarket; turn left down Bank Street and then along the Mound.
  • Stop at 1.45pm at the entrance to Princes Street Gardens, as accessed from The Mound.
  • Walk westwards through the park along esplanade
  • Depart at 2.15pm from the west end of Princes Street Gardens by St Cuthbert's Church
  • Walk/cycle to Queensferry Street.
  • Cycle up Queensferry Street, take third left along Melville Street; go round Melville Crescent to continue along Melville Street.
  • Turn left along Manor Place, then right alongside the Cathedral. Right at Palmerston Place, then left immediately along Lansdowne Crescent.
  • Halfway along the crescent, turn right along Grovesnor Street.
  • Reach West Maitland Street. Turn right along West Maitland Street, toward junction. At junction turn onto Dalry Road.

See why I'll be cycling on the 15th September!
