This may be of interest:

The Scottish International Development Conference will be running this February at the University of Strathclyde in the McCance building, from Friday 25th to Sunday 27th.

Richard Carter, the head of technical resources at WaterAid, is to be the keynote speaker on the Friday evening, with a networking event preceding the talk and a ceilidh following in the evening.

At the networking event representatives from Scottish Power Renewables, MWH Global, RedR, DLCS (David Livingstone Centre for Sustainability) and Engineers Without Borders will be present alongside those running workshops throughout the weekend.

The weekend will have an emphasis on engineering and be a mix of interactive workshops and speeches from influential figures who are driving international development.

Workshops will be run by Practical Action, the ICE (Institute of Civil Engineers), WEDC (Water, Engineering and Development Centre), Engineers Without Borders and others, with talks from Andrew Lamb (EWB-UK CEO), Bob Kalin (Head of the Civil Engineering Department, The University of Strathclyde) and Steven Hunt (Practical Action).

Tickets are heavily subsidised with weekend tickets being only £30 (for professionals or £20 for students), ticket price includes dinner on the Friday and Saturday as well as lunch on the Saturday and Sunday. Tickets can also be bought for the Friday evening for £7, these include the networking fair, buffet dinner, keynote speech and ceilidh.

Tickets are available from www.ewb-uk.org.
