Travelling network developers

Network Developers do a lot of travelling around meeting people and doing things, sometimes both at once.

Last week for me it was meetings, up in Edinburgh after a 4 hour train journey from Manchester through Lancs, the Lakes and the lowlands to meet Nicola, Coordinator of the Edinburgh Network and Dave, coordinator of the new Stirling Group and then Ali, one of our NVDA trainers.

After a late night at Ali's it was on the trains to Newcastle to meet up with two new network coordinators, Diane and Ingrid, who are taking over from John who has been growing and nurturing the local network for 3 years. It is such a delight and inspiration to meet and work with all these great, committed and passionate people I always feel much more motivated and enthused than I do working at my desk, even if I'm arranging a skillshare or a training day which I know will be exciting and stimulating and I look forward to.

I was on the road (well rail) for 3 days last week and actually am quite glad to spend a day writing reports, phoning volunteers, working on a meeting agenda and showing a Manchester volunteer how to access the new website and all its features. Still, part of me wants to be blocking the entrance to a government office in a hard hat again. Maybe soon.
