Volkswagen Stormtroopers invade London
by Rachael King, Outreach Team

On Saturday 10th December, 60 Greenpeace active supporters, including seven stormtroopers and ten digital gurus (or should that be Yodas?), took to the streets of Central London to get the public to sign action cards to get VW to turn away from the dark side and stop their lobbying against laws that would make cars more efficient and cut Europe's CO2 emissions.

Despite the cold weather over 1,700 action cards were signed, with blogs and tweets galore.

Check out some of the photos on our Flickr site and a video which captures the spirit of the day on the Greenpeace London YouTube channel.

VW Stormtroopers have also been spotted in Oxford, Bristol, Southampton, St.Andrews, St.Pauls, Worcester, Leeds, Liverpool, and coming soon to a town near you.

Huge thanks to everybody who took part. For those who want to get actively involved with Greenpeace in 2012, perhaps as part of your New Year's resolution, please find your nearest network by entering your postcode here, getting in touch and getting involved.

Cameron Gets your Message on the Common Fisheries Policy (CFP)
by Ariana Densham, Oceans Campaign

In an unprecedented joint effort, 15th December saw Jerry Percy and Paul Joy from the New Under Tens Fishermans Association (NUTFA) and Ian Campbell from the Oceans 2012 coalition join Greenpeace campaigners David Ritter and Ariana Densham to deliver 10,000 CFP reform letters to David Cameron at No.10 Downing Street.

These letters, gathered from members of the public by Greenpeace volunteers throughout the summer and autumn, were individual and extremely creative, many incorporating sketches, paintings, poems and personal messages. They call on David Cameron to act in support of radical reform of the Common Fisheries Policy as well as to back our Fisheries Minister - Richard Benyon. The delivery marks the end of this phase of the campaign. Many thanks for your help so far - but keep on the look out as there is much more to follow in 2012

We wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for your incredible support throughout 2011. You have been involved in campaigns to protect our rainforests (Barbie project), to defend our oceans (tinned tuna and Common Fisheries Policy projects), to prevent climate change (Volkswagen, tar sands and Cairn projects).

You have taken part in direct actions and protests, lobbied politicians and companies, written blogs, tweets and e mails. You have raised over £20,000, helped out at festivals, fairs and numerous other events and throughout the year spoken to and involved tens of thousands of people in our work.

Huge thanks for all your hard work and support; it is hugely appreciated.

Best wishes for 2012.
