Following Tesco’s sudden change of policy last week which saw them leapfrog into fourth place in our tinned tuna league table, the new bottom-dweller is Princes.
That's because to catch tuna, Princes uses one of the worst fishing methods around, catching sharks, turtles and possibly even dolphins in its nets. Other supermarkets such as Sainsbury’s and Marks & Spencer have shown that it is possible to catch tuna sustainably, and even Tesco who were last in our league table until just a few days ago, have agreed to source 100% of tuna for its tins by the uber-sustainable pole and line method by the end of 2012.
TAKE ACTION: We would like as many people as possible to phone Princes’ customer care line, to complain about the destructive fishing methods they use.

SUGGESTED SCRIPT:
“Hi. I’m calling because I saw Hugh’s Fight Fight programme on Channel 4 this week and was shocked to learn how Princes catch their tuna using the least environmentally friendly fishing methods.
I’m phoning to say I want you to stop. Otherwise I’ll have to start buying other brands like Sainsbury’s instead. Please will you pass on my message to Princes bosses?
Thanks”
Other ways to contact Princes: If you're not comfortable phoning Princes, emails and letters will also be very useful. You can use the email action on our website or, even better, write your own words and send by email, post or fax to:
