Residents and volunteers at Braziers Park in Oxfordshire invited me to visit to give a talk about Greenpeace at the beginning of April.
Braziers Park is, according to their website, "a community, a residential college, and an architectural treasure hidden deep in the South Oxfordshire countryside". I'd been there before, but it was a delight to return to find out more about this unique institution and meet some of the people behind it.
After dinner - and a tour round the grounds to look at the pigs and the garden - we all gathered in the beautiful wood-panelled drawing room at Braziers for the presentation. Afterwards there was a healthy discussion about some of the topics we'd talked about, and in particular Greenpeace's current campaign on palm oil. Some of the people in the audience knew a lot more about the politics of palm oil than me, and we had a fascinating dialogue about the politics and environmental impact of food in the modern world.
A delightful evening in a charming place, and well worth the journey out from Reading!
