Thanks to Chayley for organising this and getting the HEAT kids club together to support the Greenpeace SAVE THE ARCTIC campaign. Here's a little text from Chayley's press release:MPs urged to take sides in battle to save the ArcticEco kids club Huddersfield Eco Action Team (HEAT) has joined a worldwide movement of people to urge  local politicians  to take sides in the battle to protect one of the world’s last untouched and most beautiful regions – the Arctic. HEAT recently combined a den-making afternoon in Huddersfield's TP woods, with making a serious message to politicians  of the need to protect the frozen lands that polar bears, narwhals, and other majestic creatures call home. The activity took place in support of Greenpeace's  I Love Arctic project, which is calling upon world leaders to declare the inhabited area around the North Pole a global sanctuary and make the whole region off-limits to destructive and polluting industries.Last year MPs on the Environmental Audit Committee (EAC) called for a moratorium on Arctic drilling, but the government has so far ignored the recommendations. HEAT is asking local MPs Barry Sheerman & Jason McCartney  to write to the foreign secretary, William Hague, and the climate minister, Ed Davey, urging them to support the committee’s proposal for a drilling ban.HEAT coordinator Chayley Collis said: "Our local politicians Barry Sheerman& Jason McCartney have demonstrated their commitment to environmental issues by supporting the Clean Energy amendment in the recent Energy Bill going through parliament. We hope that they can also show their support for Greenpeace's campaign to protect the Arctic".
