Marching Stormtrooper

Today, Greenpeace Islington crew headed down to Occupy LSX at St. Paul’s Churchyard for a spot of campaigning. Our campaign today was to make the public aware that VW is lobbying the EU government against efficiency targets. Part of this campaign is to get members of the public to sign postcards asking VW to stop their anti – environment campaigning. VW have developed cutting edge Blue Motion Technology, which will enable them to meet EU’s proposed lower Co2 emission levels. This will not only be good for the environment but will also drive innovation in the wider automobile industry. Since VW is Europe’s largest car manufacturer, we think it’s time VW showed proper
leadership.

To help us bring back VW from the dark side, we had our very own Stormtrooper! The Stormtrooper was brilliant in attracting attention – lots of punters stopped to take photos which meant more opportunities to speak with the public and get the all important signatures. We even spoke to a few VW drivers who left with “I have joined the Rebellion’ car stickers. Fantastic!

We had a great time and managed to collect about 110 signatures. We even gave a little spiel on OccupyLSX livestream so hopefully more Jedis will be logging on to join the rebellion.
