Film night on Monday 8 October : 7pm at Wharf Chambers

We had quite a lot to talk about at our monthly meeting at the Brewery Taps. Present: Joe, Jayne, Alan, Richard, Nick, Eds, Jodie, Beth and Kristina. Apologies from Suzy and Kath.

Richard and Kristina very positively reviewed the NVDA training day they had recently attended in Manchester. Joe thanked everyone involved in the Shell Day 2 action in York which was one of 13 protests that took place around the counrty on 21 September.

Joe covered items in the network co-ordinator's newsletter and talked about some of the recent Greenpeace Leeds actions and activities to give people an idea of what the group was involved in and trying to achieve. Attending a political lobbying workshop is a good opportunity for anyone interested in communicating the Greenpeace message to their MP to receive some training and there are 2 coming up. Saturday 13 October in London and Saturday 17 November in Nottingham. Please apply if you are interested : need link.

Feedback from the LibDem annual conference suggests recent lobbying for renewable energy and de-centralized energy is being taken on board as part of the party's review of the Energy Bill and the promotion of Green growth.

Legal Support people are wanted. Training will be given so if this is an area of Greenpeace that interests you please write to Emily Hall with some brief details on why you would like to be involved and tell Emily of any experience you may have in this area.

It would be good if we could post more blogs and tweets. Also we could try to create short videos or films about our activities to be posted on u-tube which would help to get the message out to more people. If anyone can think up a good scenario for a video that we could act out, then let's talk about it!

FILM NIGHT NEXT MONDAY 8 OCTOBER.: Wharf Chambers 7-9pm. There will be a film show about climate change and Joe is going to bring a DVD of Greenpeace's 50 years which we can also show. It will be a relaxed, social occasion so please come along. All the details are on the website: http://www.greenpeace.org.uk/groups/leeds/event/frozen-planet-film-night-monday-8-october-2012. Please get in touch if you have any questions or want more information.

Next meeting: Monday 5 November 7pm at the Brewery Taps.
