Well, after deciding It made more sense to stay up all night, rather than going to sleep and waking up at 3am to catch the bus down to London, I made it to GP's HQ at Canonbury Villas in London, tired, but fortunately operational. The congregation consisted of activists as far afield as Glasgow, and close by as Croydon. The aim of the day was to bring together coordinators who perhaps hadn't been around for too long (though their attitudes would suggest otherwise!), and explain a bit of history on how the organisation has evolved in recent years to the shape it is now. There were discussions and feeback on what had/hadn't worked well in terms of campaigning and organising networks, and ideas of how to overcome them. We also got to meet John Sauven, chief exec of Greenpeace UK over lunch, who filled us in on even more of the great work we've done internationally over the past several years, and gave us some insight into the direction we need to be moving towards.
All in all, it was an excellent day. I was even given an old laptop, which means we can add a whole new dynamic to our local group events, in terms of using both the internet, but the potential to show films (if we can get hold of a projector!)
I should also pass on the praise given to all of you for helping making Greenpeace what it is - a praise I share! Without all our active members, taking part in each and every way you do, we wouldn't be anywhere near the incredible organisation that we are today!
Elliot
