On Saturday the 6th of October myself and Amy commuted from Liverpool to a sunny Manchester MEN Arena where none other than Radiohead were playing their first UK show of their European tour.  Greenpeace had been following Radiohead around Europe to help promote the Save the Arctic campaign (http://www.savethearctic.org/) .

Thom Yorke and Radiohead are big supporters of our campaign they even lent their music to Greenpeace for a campaign video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4XpF04nximI)

Having been specially selected to go promote the Save the Arctic campaign at the concert, we were all very excitable as we gathered in the presence if Paula the polar bear and  were given Save the Arctic iPads and brand new Save the Arctic tabards, ready to go mingle with the massing fans.

The response from the crowd was fantastic, as all in all we managed to acquire more than six hundred signatures to add to the Arctic scroll. The crowd was bustling and many had to look twice when they noticed our polar bear surrounded by the crowd. It was great to hear people saying how much they supported Greenpeace in this campaign, in many cases people were running over to us to sign up to the campaign.

When we had finished we were free to watch the concert from our front row seats; and so it goes Radiohead put on a great show!

All in all it was an excellent evening with results for the Arctic campaign

As the Arctic continues to melt at record rates, like this year, it is growing ever more important to act a collective and make the right decision in declaring the Arctic a global sanctuary, free from oil drilling and destructive fishing methods so we can preserve the precious life of the Arctic for generations to come.

If you haven’t done so, sign up to the Save the Arctic Campaign!!
