You don't see many polar bears in Liverpool , so when the Merseyside network complete with polar bear visited the Aigburth Road Shell garage it did cause more than a little interest from passing buses, motorists and people walking past.
We gave out lots of leaflets to customers and passers by and with the exception of 1 driver we had a very positive response. We had a visit from the local constabulary , who were very polite and pleasant and wished us a good day and hoped that the rain stayed off for us ( which it did ).
Lots of passing cars honked their horns and waved in support which made us all feel good.
Our only difficult customer was a man in a sports car who said that he could not respect Greenpeace because we break the law. After a bit of a rant he gunned the engine , shot out of the garage and down the road at a speed significantly higher than the 30 mph limit on that road - but wait a minute, isn't that breaking the law ??
Our polar bear will be visting other local Shell garages soon , why not come and join us ??
