Our day out - Saturday April 20th 2013
Greenpeace volunteers from Merseyside and surrounding areas ( including Liz, Sylvia and Nicky who came all the way from Preston) took not just one, but two polar bears – one of whom came all the way from Belfast - to Crosby beach, to see Anthony Gormley’s Iron Men and campaign to save the Arctic. We also had our new banner in a dashing white frame custom built by the ever resourceful Liz Gould. The bears proved popular with the children, and soon parents, cyclists, grandparents, walkers etc were being photographed and signed up. Between the banner, the bears, the bikes and the beach, we soon had a large batch of support messages to join the thousands being sent off to the Arctic Conference coming up soon in Norway. We finished the morning by carving out our message – We love the Arctic – on the sand. Stuart, our expert photographer, snapped the whole crowd before the bears went off for a well-earned picnic. A big thanks to all who helped.
