A wildfire in Colorado

I have rarely been moved enough to write a blog on a report in a newspaper or a magazine, but today I have to break this trend after reading an article in the RollingStone magazine that is packed with all the concerns that I as an environmentalist am worried about.

At this time the importance of this report cannot be underestimated as Greenpeace call for the Arctic to be made a sanctuary where drilling for oil & fishing is strictly prohibited, while applying pressure on oil giant Shell to give up its plan to drill exploratory wells in the Arctic in the search for the oil which will turn our planet into a barren wasteland in our lifetimes.  Yes you have read this correctly the scientific models are no longer warn of a very different planet for some future generation, but for us in less than 20 years!  With this knowledge I have to ask......what is the point of economic recovery now if in just under 2 decades we will have destroyed our planet?
