Today July the 11th 6 Women are climbing up The Shard in central London as a protest against Shell, the oil company plans to drill exploratory deep sea crude oil wells in the Russian Arctic. The Shard is Europe's tallest building and is also quite close to the offices of Shell in London.

The bravery of these women demonstrates just how urgent it is that we stop Shell before they destroy a pristine habitat home to iconic animals like the Polar Bear & the Arctic Fox.  Earlier last year a Shell employee admitted that there will be spills, when drilling for oil in the Arctic, something that has the potential to upset some of the richest marine habitats in the world.

The US administration has already rejected Shell's licences to drill for deep sea oil with in their segment of the Arctic after a catalogue of accidents, with the most embarrassing being an oil rig that they were towing away from American waters so that they did not have to pay $7 million in taxes running aground of the Alaskan coast.
