just returned from a weekend break in Kettlewell, yorkshire.A chance to meet others involved in greenpeace in the north.never been before but everyone was freindly and there was some lovely soup served up within 1o mins of arriving friday eve. After a wonderful stroll up a nearby hill and breakfast we had our day fully booked. In the village hall we had a couple of sessions ,first from simone, from amsterdam who was telling us how they are organising things, basically encouraging groups to think how they want to interpret the campaigns to suit their town/city and themselves.
she had some good pics of stalls and ideas used at festivals over the past year.next we had rachel from the actions dept of GP ,she filled us in on plans to think more globally and to shift funds and focus to support more GP groups/offices to the places that really need it like China,India and Braszil.good solid stuff and made me feel part of the bigger picture.next we had a great treasure hunt through the village, and some late afternoon get togethers , I went to one about things to do in winter for groups, to keep the interest up, and also about subvertising, basically stickering, its implications and how to avoid getting caught.
high point in the eve was a presentation by dene from Investigations,of his photos from his trip to arctic on the GP ship the Esperanza. He kept us entertained/enthralled with great photos and tales of the 6 week trip up to the rig and the game of cat and mouse between them and danish commandos.there was great food supplied by Annie and the pub down the road did good trade by us.thanks greenpeace!
