Today Dave Mooney and I, together with Han, a Chinese student from Nottingham University, met Anna Soubry, the MP for Broxtowe to present a number of petition postcards from people who lived in her constituency asking her to support our campaign to Go Beyond Oil.  The campaign focusses on the Energy Bill that has just had its first reading in the House of Lords.  We initially thought this would be a quick 'photo and go' event but as she recognised me from previous meetings (about the proposed open cast coal mine in Cossall) she started chatting to us about the campaign and invited us in to her office to talk some more.  She is a keen supporter of Greenpeace and listened carefully as we explained the campaign.  Obviously she went off message, talking to us about the coal mine and the proposed Nottingham University wind turbines, one of which will be in Broxtowe, but she definitely was interested and has asked for more information.  When I told her that Ken Clarke was supporting our issues she said she was a fan of Ken and if it was good enough for Ken it was good enough for her!
