The Endgame

I was browsing through Gas International, the magazine for gas managers and engineers when I came across a rather alarming article.  It was entitled "The Hunt for hydrocarbons: exploring the next frontier" and was all about a course devised by Aberdeen University designed for the oil and gas industry to get every last drop of oil and gas out of mother earth - including Antarctica which is currently protected by the same sort of international law that we hoping we can protect the high Arctic with.  In the same week that we reached 2 million signatures on our Arctic scroll it is a worrying indication of the lengths the oil and gas industry will go to to make a profit regardless of the effect on the planet.  Meanwhile our message to save the Arctic is getting more and more coverage.  ABC News was invited by Greenpeace to witness the environment under the Arctic Ocean from a mini sub and they produced this video for their news programme.  It shows what is at risk and reinforces how urgent it is that this campaign is won.  The quotation, by the way, is from Shell.
