I missed this on the radio last Friday when Radio 4's Any Questions was held at the Centre for Alternaltive Technology. I sort of knew it was on but I think I chose not to listen as I recall James Dellingpole that well- known climate change denier was going to be on and I didn't want to throw the radio against the wall and break it in a fit of ire. But you sort of assume that if a chap has got the position of Environment Minister that he has sort of got his head around the concept of climate change. Wrong!!!! He, like a lot of climate change deniers cannot tell the difference between weather and climate. Seeing as the key aim of DEFRA is to 'support a strong and sustainable green economy' then he is obviously not the man to do it. This position is so at odds with his parliamentary remit that his comments found their way onto an American web site! There is a beautifully simple diagram to explain the difference between climate and weather for our Mr P to look at. Hopefully it is so simple even he might be able to understand but whether he takes any notice is another thing. maybe he will just carry on as a fully signed up member of the belicose James Dellingpole fan club a man who sees the consensus on climate change as a political agenda to do with control of our lives and not a scientific reality
