If you think you will find real ale in Asia, Richard Martin................

So Richard Martin is off to pastures new.  Many of you will not know who Richard is, but if it wasn't for him then this online group network would not exist, nor would UK Greenpeace twitter have a voice on the internet and the political lobbying network would not exist.  The thing about Richard is that he is quiet.  He just gets on and does things without the fuss and after they are done you wonder, why didn't we do that/have that already?

Last time  spent some time with Richard was in Stirling looking for a pub that sells real ale.  A thankless task as you could imagine.  And disappointing as Richard loves his real ale and apparently searches for real ale pubs whenever he goes somewhere new - on the internet before he gets there to save valuable beer drinking time!  We discussed how long we had known each other as Richard seems to have been around for ages.  He is as much part of the structure of the team that support active supporters like us as, well, just as.  He knows lots of stuff about lots of things, especially stuff digital and he was always there sorting out my problems when I was starting to use the on line campaigning tools that have become second nature to all of us now.  We spent some time together at Goblin Combe near Bristol at a regional skillshare and we had a bet there.  Richard has a smart phone, as you would expect from a techie.  I don't.  We had a bet there and then (no money changed hands) that within 5 years I would also have a smart phone.   When you come back Richard I full intend to still have an old style mobile!

Richard is moving to Asia.  He is leaving GPUK to joing Greenpeace International as a network developer - to do in the rapidly growing south Asia area what he has done in the UK.

Richard you are being missed already and you haven't gone yet!  Our loss is Asia's gain and we look forward to seeing a massive internet presence of Greenpeace in parts of the world that really need our presence.  Good luck Richard, we wish you all the best
