People gathered outside the Magistrates Court in Nottingham today wondering whether for the first time ever that environmental activists would be sent to jail for occupying the West Burton Power Station owned and run by EDF.  But our worst thoughts were not realised.  The verdict came out this afternoon.  The judge said 'All of you are highly educated men and women, industrious committed individuals who work and volunteer in your communities.  Your motives were genuine.'  Result: 5 defendants given conditional discharge, the rest community service.Small fines.  An excellent result all round considering.

Remarkably sympathetic coverage from the Daily Mail
