Please write to your MP to ask him to support Alan Simpson's ammendment to the Energy Bill which is currently going through arliament.

Last year we won an amazing victory when E-On said they were not going to build a new coal fired power station at Kingsnorth till 2016 at the earliest.  Ed Miliband has stated that all new coal fired power stations should have some method to capture and store the CO2 emitted but this is an unproven technology and what was intended for Kingsnorth was only 25% capture which is ridiculously small.

Alan Simpson is calling for an Emissions Performance Standard on all new coal fired power stations which would mean that the maximum amount of CO2 emitted would be legally binding and could be put into law straight away.
