Flaming June it wasn't. This is the second year running that Greenpeace Nottingham have been to an event organised by Gedling Council and the second time we have stood in a leaky gazebo watching people rushing by carrying umbrellas. I'm beginning to detect a trend. But the rain eased often enough (notice I said 'eased' and not 'stopped') for Jaydee, Jeannie and me to venture forth and gather signatures for our home-made petition to KFC to remove rainforest pulp from their packaging. If people stopped, they were genuinely interested and signed the petition. Eric the orang utan stayed at home. I'm glad he decided not to come - the house would have smelled of wet dog as he dried out prior to his visit to Derbyshire next week. We will now package up the petitions and photos from the Green Festival last week and send them to KFC to make the point that the people of Nottingham - and in particular the young people - don't want KFC to use rainforest pulp in their packaging.
