So it was decided at the last planning meeting - our first Shell garage protest of the new year.  Then winter came back.  I sat looking at the snow at half past two thinking 'this isn't going to be fun'.  So a text went out to everyone who had offered to come and protest outside the Shell garage in town.  'If it's snowing like this at 4o'clock, we'll call it off'.  Shell may have said they won't be drilling in the Arctic this year but that doesn't mean normal service won't be resumed next year.  4o'clock arrived and of course the snow had stopped and the sun was out.  But it was bitterly cold and soon after 4.30 it started snowing again.  Added to that, Sean was late as he had to wait for the gasman to fix the meter so they could have some hot water and heating.  So we called it a day and retired for tea and hot chocolate.  So, all you out there in Greenpeaceland in Nottingham, don't be put off.  We are more like you than you think.  Given the choice between standing out in a bitterly cold wind and the snow and a cup of hot chocolate, the chocolate wins every time.  Maybe this little tale will encourage you to come and join our merry crew.  And there is always next week.
