Cafe Scientifique talk: Eastcroft Incinerator: energy from waste or waste of energy?

Lord Roberts Pub (basement), 24 Broad Street Nottingham, United Kingdom, NG1 3AN
4 November, 2013 - 20:00 - 21:30

Cafe Scientifique meets weekly in the basement of the Lord Roberts pub in Hockley - just down from the Broadway Cinema.  Talks are by local people and this talk is by Nigel Lee from Nottingham Friends of the Earth.  Nigel has been actively involved in the campaign to stop the expansion of the incinerator for a long time now and he was part of the anti-incineration group NAIL.  Greenpeace has campaigned on energy from waste in the past and when asked I always say 'pipes good fuel bad' since waste heat from the incinerator does provide heating to large parts of the centre of Nottingham including the Ice Rink and some of the flats and houses in St Ann's.  Come and find out more about this contentious subject.

The talk will last about half an hour then there will be an interval to get drinks.  During the interval, a hat will be passed round.  After the interval is a Q&A discussion session.

Suggested donations for the hat are £5 waged and £3 unwaged.
