Oxford always has more than its fair share of tourists but in summer the city centre overflows with groups of teenage students, here to brush up their English at the many language schools. So when we gave the I Love Arctic its last outing on Saturday we got to engage with a truly international public. We signed up people from Russia, Italy, France, Mexico, Spain, Germany… and a few Brits too. Just as well Greenpeace is an international organisation.

Nod nobly donned the polar bear suit for a while but it was a very warm day and mostly the bear sat looking hot and hungry – but still catching a lot of attention. Over 70 new sign-ups and lots of interesting conversations in different degrees of broken English. Many leaflets given away, for students to practice their English!
