Peaceful protest at Shell Garage in Headington

It was great to be joined by friends from Reading and Runnymede - and a couple of polar bears - to deliver a message to Shell (again) that they must leave the Arctic alone.

We'd all heard the latest news about how serious the ice melt has been in the Arctic this summer and some had spelt it out on their personal placards - have a look at the video below. The motorists, pedestrians and cyclists who stopped to talk were amazingly supportive of our call to protect the Arctic. The two policemen who dropped by seemed amazingly well-informed and worried about the problems in the Arctic. Even a parliamentary committee expressed serious concerns last week.

So Shell, time to call off the rigs - not just for the summer, for keeps.
