Tree planting in north Oxford

Want to watch a tree being planted? Come to Wolvercote Community Orchard on Saturday 28 November at 11am.

Oxfordshire has plenty of trees, but this one will be special. Along with lots of other local groups we'll be planting a tree in support of Sipson's orchard.

Sipson is the home of the Cox's Orange Pippin, and it's even the burial site of original breeder Richard Cox. But it's also about to be levelled to make way for the third runway at Heathrow, so lots of tree-planting is going on around the country, and we've even got special guests for ours.

Evan Harris MP (Lib Dem) and Andrew Smith MP (Labour) will both be attending the ceremony: they're both on message with climate change and voted against the third runway. Many thanks for them for agreeing to attend!

But we need you to come along and show your support. This isn't just about politics or press coverage: it's about telling the residents of Sipson that Oxford stands alongside them, and our trees alongside theirs. Also, it's a tree. Trees are ace.
