guide for leaders debate questions

Posted by louise - 8 April 2010 at 4:34pm - Comments

this is the message you get back when you send a question in for the leaders debate -  worth reading before devising your question

Thank you for sending us your question for The First Election Debate on ITV.

The audience for the leaders’ debate will be recruited by the market research company ICM. Viewers are invited to submit questions on email for consideration up to and including the day of the live programme (date to be announced). The questions which will be asked on the night will be chosen by our editorial panel from those submitted.

The first half of the ITV debate will have a themed section on domestic affairs and then the remaining part of the debate will be open to questions on any election issue. You may submit a question relevant to any of those areas. You can also send us a question for the second half of the debate on other election issues such as Afghanistan or the state of the economy.

To give your question the best chance of being selected by our panel you need to make sure it fits the following rules:

  • Each question must be relevant to all three party leaders
  • The question can’t focus on one party or one leader
  • All questions must be based on election issues

If your question doesn’t fit the above criteria please do amend it and resend to debate@itv.com.

Please include a contact number and your location in the email so that a member of our team can contact you.

If your question is selected you may be invited to join the audience to ask it in person.

Best wishes
