Although the government keeps telling us that we're broke and can't afford to spend money on public services, there's plenty of cash available for the Trident replacement programme. The government has announced that it intends to spend £1.1 billion on an eleven year contract with Rolls-Royce to build nuclear reactors for new Trident replacement and Astute class submarines.
