"Attempts by Prime Minister Gordon Brown to follow the US Nuclear Policy Review, have been blocked by the Ministry of Defence (MoD), say insiders." Read more here
I find this hard to believe and as one of the comments points out a lot of senior figures within the MOD have publicly stated they are against renewing Trident. This includes the current head of Army General Richards. The same comment also points out the there is a £35 billion hole in the defence procurement budget.
So suggestions that the MOD are blocking Brown from scrapping the £97 billion Trident seems quite strange. More lies and more spin.
If Brown was really committed to following the US Nuclear Policy Review He'd scrap plans to renew Trident, there's plenty of public support for doing so, could even be a vote winner.
