In the beginning of February 2010 a group of Bombspotters went for a 'walk' deep into the heart of Kleine Brogel Air Base (Belgium), the place where the US Air Force still stores between 10-20 nuclear B61bombs, caused a bit of a fuss with the Belgian military and our Ministry of Defence. As well as on a political and military level in the US. See also my mail to the list from 6th February 2010 (subject: US Nuclear Weapons Site in Europe Breached).
A few months later Greenpeace Belgium blocked nuclear training flights at this base, an action in support of the Bomspotting campaign, and shortly after, in the beginning of April, there was the huge mass inspection and civil disobedience activity where over 400 people were arrested.
Now a new chapter has been added to the Kleine Brogel saga, as our allies from Vredesactie (the peace NGO behind the annual Bomspotting campaign) did locate and film the nuclear weapon shelters at the military base. They made a short documentary about all this called 'Nuclear terrorism - Proof of Concept' and produced a technical analysis on the issue.
Let's see how the politicians and military command will react to this one ...
