Trident campaign weekend in Reading, 2- 6 September

Posted by bpeter_101 - 26 August 2010 at 9:57pm - Comments

Trident Ploughshares are organising a late summer gathering in Reading at the beginning of September with a teach-in about Trident and related issues and some local campaign work.

The gathering will feature workshops on new developments at the Atomic Weapons Establishment, planned campaign work at Devonport, and the history and principles of the Trident Ploughshares movement.  There will also be training in non-violent direct action, music and social events, and faith activities for those who are interested.

On Saturday 4th September Trident Ploughshares campaigners will join forces with local Greenpeace volunteers for a day of street campaigning to mobilise opposition to the planning application for 'Project Hydrus', a major new physics research facility at the nearby Atomic Weapons Establishment.

Meet 11am at the Reading International Solidarity Centre, for a briefing, to break up into team, and then to campaign from 12 noon till 4pm. Then back to RISC for coffee and cake.

All welcome!  Full details available from the Trident Ploughshares website.
