US budget deficit: Defence at the cost of Social Security and Medicare

Posted by andrelotz - 16 October 2011 at 9:58am - Comments

Came across this enlightening video by Warcosts.com on the current threat being posed to US Social Security and Medicare by their massive defence budget.

Senators like John Kyl refuse to consider defence cuts to solve the budgetary crisis, using the old argument that their constituents need the money from defence contracts. This in spite of the sigificant numbers of people in their states that will suffer from cuts to these 2 entitlements.

Has a lot of relevance to the UK context I think.
