As part of Greenpeace's festival campaign - we joined forces with Greenpeace Southampton for 4 days at Wickham Festival.

Dave Edwards, a Wickham resident & Greenpeace campaigner wrote this for us:

We acheived 380 new signatures from an overall attendance of about 3000.. over 10% I feel was a good result with about another 200 that just wanted to sign the ribbon (hopefully with a new planted seed of awareness that will grow in time).

For the first two days I was campaigning with Barry Slipper who could walk backwards, and at the same time, speak some very complex engaging sentences to a diverse range of members of the public. I was impressed by his message delivery with an informative approach and good vocabulary, and feel it complimented my simplistic, light approach to form an effective team.

The high point of the festival campaign was to see two workers of oil companies sign there names to support what Aurora stands for & take an interest in alternative solutions to better the future of the planet.

On Saturday, we were joined by the lovely prensences of Sadhbh, Frankie & Maria, which really helped boost the team, get things moving & unleash the polar bear.  It was nice to see everyone work to their strengths of their own personalities and also combine well as a group, but the most overwhelming thing present was the shear passion of making a difference & saving the planet, which kept leading me to think that, 'if everybody felt this way, what sort of a different world would we be living in?'. On Sunday we had Jess arrive which was a nice caring, calming and explorative influence on the team... By then we had given away most of our leaflets and stickers, and were surrounded by a lot of signed ribbon that was attatched to the inside of the gazebo.

By the end of the festival I barely had a voice left, as I was talking all day everyday and became very croaky and difficult to voice words, but indeed was all worth it, as had a  warming feeling that I had made some difference to peoples view to the earths future.
