We had an early start to catch the ferry from ~ Portsmouth to the Isle of Wight - for the 8th Annual League Against Cruel Sports Wild life day in Newport.
The day had been planned for many weeks - but when Saturday 5th of October was marked as the Global Day of Solidarity for the crew of the Arctic Sunrise, it gave us all some added momentum.
The League's Wildlife day was a great melting pot for animal welfare groups from the Island, as well as the mainland - LACS, Sea Shepherd, IFAW, Tiggywinkles, Hares, Bats, Badgers & even guinea pigs were all represented.
The Venue was great - as it had the main room, a cinema room and a large and airy speakers room - hosting a varied array of guests. The badger cull was high on the agenda and hearing dairy manager Steve Jones speak was inspirational.
Back at the Greenpeace stall we updated attendees about our campaigns, but everyone wanted to know about the Arctic Sunrise and to send messages of good will & hope to them and those close to them. It was a special day across the globe, and we felt good to be a part of it.
We shared our return ferry ride with the Sea Shepherd rep and the poignancy of sitting on a ship, looking across the water only reinforced our resolve for future campaigns!
