Having fun in the sun with the anti frackers

Hagrid hates fracking

We spent a lovely summers afternoon by the seaside peacfully showing that a lot of people in Lancashire don't want fracking.  There were many goups there - REAF,RAFF, Defend Lytham, unions groups, FoE, Frack Off, and a new group covering the areas north of Preston, such as Garstang and Bilsburrow.  There were also families, and individuals, all coming together to say please don't start fracking!  We showed our support by facepainting - it was meant to be anti fracking slogans or images, but the children were't for co-operating, so it was the usual lions and butterflies!  There were speakers from various groups telling us about the pollution of water, the dangers of fragile fracking wells and the meaninglessness of the pots of money the fracking groups are having to "offer" areas that have been fracked. We also got a deomonstration of the noise levels that the fracking wells will make when they have a flare off - very loud!

One woman summed if up well - she said that Cuadrilla is a bad dog that we need to shoo away, and we are the fleas - the little people - that collectively can make the big, bad company go away!  We need to have faith in our ability to keep the pressure on Cuadrilla, until they realise we don't want them!
