Our Arctic friends visit Kingston's May Merrie

On 6th May two special visitors were seen greeting children and adults in Kingston's Memorial Gardens: our Polar Bear and his friend the Arctic Fox. As is often the case some children were a bit intimidated by the bear - after all he is VERY big - but the Arctic Fox helped make them feel at ease and many lovely photos were taken, which will be put on the I Love the Arctic website.

The other volunteers of our group busied themselves explaining what our campaign is all about and asking the grown-ups to sign our petition. It was a beautiful sunny day and Kingston was heaving with people who had come to the May Merrie to enjoy the live street entertainment and visit the stalls. Our Arctic friends may have got a bit hot under their furry coat but they were nonetheless very successful with the children.

From 4 till 5 we also had a stall in the Gardens and our cakes and biscuits went down very well (although the icing of the fairy cakes suffered slightly from the unusual heat - a warning to all about the effects of global warming we thought..). As usual we had a great time and it was fun to take photos and to interact with people while making them aware of our campaign.
