Recipe for successful tree planting

Posted by Jothma - 24 November 2009 at 1:33pm - Comments

Take:

*1 tree (M27 rootstock for the technical minded)

*compost

*2 spades and a fork

*20+ people from Greenpeace, Ham United Group, Transition town Kingston, Jo's friends the "Williams", passers by who stopped to chat and sign up as beneficial owners

Dig hole in mini-orchard (forward planning by HUG - it was planted last year!)

Surround by stakes - using spirit level to keep them upright

Mix with sunshine

Add a dash of hot mulled apple juice

Smile for the press camera.....

Thanks to all who turned up, advised, chatted, dug, helped tidy HUG's herb garden and contributed to a fun morning. And to MP Susan Kramer who was holding a surgery but came down to the site later that day to view our handiwork.
