CFP campaigning in Salisbury

Salisbury Group took CFP campaigning to the Salisbury Food and Drink Festival Market Day on Sunday 16th. Where we asked people to sign individual fish petitions to be a fisherman’s friend thus showing their support for local, sustainable, coastal fishermen and to be a voice for radical reform of the CFP.

The EU Common Fisheries Policy (CFP) has not worked and is not working for fish, fishermen, the marine environment, coastal communities, or consumers. The system is broken and the 2012 reform process is our best, last chance to fix it.

Mazy the mackerel was a favorite and generated a lot of interest, but we ran out of fish to sign, there was still a lot of interest so we resorted to a couple of petitions as backup, and then  more people were directed to the website to sign up. Overall it was a very successful day with 223 fish signed and 60 signatures on a petition.
