With hundreds of new Arctic Defenders signed up and numerous photos of people taken with the 'I Love Arctic' speech bubble, our recent undertaking in the 'Save The Arctic' Campaign at Larmer Tree Festival was an absolute triumph.
Our job was made very easy for three reasons;
The atmosphere at the festival was a happy and very relaxed one, the sun was shining, everyone was in high spirits and keen to hear about our latest drive to turn the Arctic into a sanctuary, protecting it from oil exploitation.
Secondly, both the young and old and every age in between that the festival attracted seemed to have genuine concern for environmental issues and were happy to support Greenpeace.
Lastly, with the great success of the recent Shard climb and the publicity it generated, most people had already been made aware of the Arctic campaign, so hats off to the six brave women!
Set near the Dorset border within the picturesque Larmer Tree Gardens, the festival had something for everyone. From headline acts, (Imelda May), to parody poetry, (Anti Poet), along with creative writing, street theatre, comedy, and much more besides. .
A welcome but unexpected break from the heatwave came with thunderstorms and lightning, booming and flashing outside as Rich Hall made light of it inside the comedy tent.
A memorable and productive time was had by all who took part in the campaign.
A big thank you to those who worked hard to achieve such a successful venture at Larmer Tree, and to those who made it possible. Keep up the good work!
