The 15th December Battersea Shell protest with other South London networks

When looking back at 2012 I can only conclude what an extrodinary year it has been. While the startling facts about climate change on our fragile planet becomes clearer and more serious and our political leaders does not seem to be too worried about it, the people who becomes aware and interested in the issues has only increased.

This is also the case in the Southwest London network, the people who have joined us in 2012 have helped shape it to what it is today and on the eve of 2012 a massive thank must go out to you for your interest, passion, ideas and hard work. You have made sure that 2012 have seen a massive increase in monthly meetings attentandences, the campaigning events we have been able to organise along with keeping a social aspect at the center of things, we have also due to a lot of activity on both facebook and twitter seen that growing expandidly and it is with great satisfaction we have seen facebook many times be used as an online debate forum.

It's delightful to see also what an international network we are representing several different nations  making us a true Global Local Network.

We have also in 2012 build up great partnerships and have worked together with the Southwark and other London networks and been featured in the South London Press.

You will probably remember 2012 for the hugely succesful 'Save the Arctic' campaign which we most actively campaigned on, but a lot of other things also happened in the Greenpeace calendar of 2012 and this video produced by Greenpeace UK's video editor Marge should help explain it.

We expect 2013 to also be a very busy year, the arctic campaign and the campaign against Shell drilling there will run into next year and until we stop this destructive process, but there will be lot's of other exciting campiagns to get involved in, so do make sure you use the festive break for resting so you're ready for a long and hard but very exciting 2013.

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!
