Chopped down Boreal forest near a tar sands mine in Alberta, Canada

The Canadian Tar Sands is the most energy intensive way of extracting Oil and it's highly destructive. Boreal forest the size of England have been destroyed, for this dirty form of oil exploration and moreover some of the big oil companies are pressing ahead for an expansion of the Tar Sands also to other countries. Therefore on our monthly meeting last night we had no hestiation of signing The Tar Sands action cards. But we still have a few left so if you couldn't make the meeting last night but would like to sign one before I send it off to UK transport minister Norman Baker please get in touch. Also if you don't know that much about what Tar Sands really is, I would urge to look into it. Either goodle or search the blogs on this site, Greenpeace International though Greenpeace Canada is likely to have the biggest cover. I would also suggest you keep up to date with International news as a maasive protest is taking place in Washington tomorrow against the proposed building of the XL pipeline that would carry Tar Sands from Canada to the US.
