It was the night before campaigning
and all across town
every volunteer was ready
to give Shell a big frown.
On Saturday morning we gathered outside Battersea Park rail station to prepare for the last Shell hit of the year. In the wake of the recent Waitrose news (on halting their partnership plans with Shell), we thought it the perfect time to show the oil giants that, rain or shine, they aren’t shrugging us off.
Luckily for us, the weather was for Team Greenpeace on arrival. The sun shining, we spoke to passers-by about Shell’s irresponsible plans to continue drilling next summer and asked them to join us in petitioning to have the UN declare the Arctic a global sanctuary. We merrily held our banners, danced at busses and cheered honking cars. A fantastic time was had by all…all except one greedy polluting oil company, Shell.
If The Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future were to visit Shell, we’d see years of careless destruction, polluting and power-hungry politics. So, if you do one thing this Christmas, help Santa #SavetheArctic and ask your loved ones to sign the Arctic Scroll at www.savethearctic.org.
