Ok the Southwest London network described in three words: friendly, welcoming and international. As a recent recruit to the Southwest London group I can safely say that they are a great bunch. One of the things I really love about the group is just how international we are with people from all corners of the globe. Since I joined we have been very involved in the 'Save the Arctic' campaign. A highlight was definitely the Southwest London Greenpeace 'Save the Arctic' quiz at the Grosvenor pub in Pimlico. Since the event we decided that we liked the pub so much that we have made it the new home for the group’s monthly meetings due to its cosy atmosphere, friendly staff and ‘slow (ly) cooked’ chips.
The ‘Save the Artic’ quiz went down a storm and to quote our group coordinator ‘Great atmosphere, great pub and great crowd’, much fun was had by all. Lets not also forget that it was a very informative event, I for one learnt loads of fun facts about that very ‘cool’ place at the top of the world. We managed to raise £170 for a great cause. It was also nice to see some of the other London groups and of course congratulations to the winners!!! Finally thanks to our lovely quiz master.
Lots of us also attended the international ‘I Love Arctic’ day, we all agreed the projection was stunning- well done Greenpeace UK and all those involved, especially the kids from the street-dancing group. We thought they were awesome in everyway and we all wished we were able to dance like them!
So what are my conclusions as a newcomer to the Southwest London group? They are easy going, up for it, there is lots going on (plenty of cool events and some pretty exciting things in the pipeline) and it’s been so easy to get involved and stuck in straight away. I already definitely feel a part of the group so thanks Southwest London and I am sure there is going to be many more fun times to come!
